Postdoctoral scholar Fatemeh Ganjisaffar
Postdoctoral scholar Fatemeh Ganjisaffar of the Frank Zalom lab, UC Davis Division of Entomology and Nematology, will current a digital seminar on Wednesday, Nov. 10 on “Addressing an Evolving Invasive Species Disaster: Insecticide Resistance Administration and Behavioral Management of Drosophila suzukii.”
“Since its 2008 detection in North America, administration of the invasive Drosophila suzukii has primarily relied on calendar insecticide purposes, making a situation the place choice strain from frequent insecticide
purposes might lead to growth of insecticide resistance,” Ganjisaffar says in her summary.
“Area-derived resistance to spinosad has already been documented in California caneberry manufacturing, and there may be vital concern amongst berry and cherry growers for growth of resistance to different pesticides,” she wrote. “This seminar will current the standing of our ongoing research to evaluate growth and extent of insecticide resistance in California D. suzukii populations, seasonal modifications in resistance, stability of resistance and potential cross-resistance between chemical lessons, in addition to our work on the behavioral management of D. suzukii and evaluating the efficacy of some Entice-and-Kill merchandise.”
Ganjisaffar joined the Zalom lab in August 2020 from UC Riverside the place she served as a postdoctoral scholar after receiving her doctorate in entomology there in 2016. She was a member of the UC Riverside crew that gained second place in theESA’s Linnaean Video games (now Entomology Video games). She obtained a College of California Dean’s Distinguished fellowship in 2011.
Zalom, a UC Davis distinguished professor of entomology, is a previous president of the Entomological Society of America (ESA) and was lately named Honorary Member of ESA, the group’s highest honor.
Ganjisaffar holds a bachelor’s diploma in agricultural engineering/plant safety (2006) from the College of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, and a grasp’s diploma in agricultural entomology (2009) from Tarbiat Modares College, Tehran.
Her most up-to-date publications embrace:
- Life Historical past Analysis of Ooencyrtus lucidus, a Newly Described Egg Parasitoid of Bagrada hilaris
Journal, Bugs, Could 9, 2020
- Deadly and Sub-Deadly Results of Pesticides on the Pink Hibiscus Mealybug, Maconellicoccus hirsutus (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae)
- Mutual interference between grownup females of Galendromus flumenis (Acari: Phytoseiidae) feeding on eggs of Banks grass mite decreases predation effectivity and will increase emigration fee
